LawCare—An essential, caring service The legal profession is tough. Every day, every hour, a legal professional somewhere suffers with the emotional and physical impact of stress, bullying or addiction. More often than not, this starts with trying to do everything for clients, but quickly leaves an individual unable to help them or themselves. For many, Lawcare is the only credible source of help, and that costs money
As a lawyer, you know the challenges of ever-increasing billable hours targets, the fear of inadequate work / cashflow, redundancy, workplace bullying etc and it’s not surprising that many lawyers struggle, suffer and succumb to addictions, or to mental illness. Add the extra pressures of relationship breakdown, bereavement etc. and even the strongest can crumble.
LawCare is here to help lawyers, but we can’t do it without your help.
Although LawCare is very grateful for the grants it receives from the professional bodies which represent and regulate the legal profession (click here for details), with ever rising costs, that money is simply not enough. We are struggling to provide the service you, your colleagues and fellow professionals need with the resources we have. And as the needs continue to grow and our funding continues to shrink, more and more lawyers are going to slip through the net, with disastrous results for them personally, their families, and the profession as a whole. WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Even small donations can make a big difference. You can see how every penny of LawCare’s money is spent in our annual accounts, and find our achievements and plans in our annual report, but below our some examples of how your money can make and impact, if you are so kind as to donate to our general fund. · A donation of Ł1 could cover the cost of sending a LawCare leaflet and information about their problem to a suffering lawyer. · A donation of Ł30 could cover the cost of running the confidential freephone helpline for a day. · A donation of Ł40 to our welfare fund could cover the cost of a session of professional counselling for a struggling lawyer. · A donation of Ł70 could cover the cost of a member of staff giving our free CPD accredited preventative education seminar. · A donation of Ł300 could enable us to place an advertisement in a legal publication seen by 20,000 lawyers. NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP LawCare has helped the legal professions for over thirteen years and now we need to ask the legal professions to help us. We are aware that some firms / chambers / lawyers are struggling, but also that there are others that are able and eager to be charitable. As the charity that is there to help you, we would ask whether you might consider giving something back by making a donation to LawCare.
Larger Projects LawCare has several larger projects which it would like to undertake and for which we are seeking partnership from a firm or organisation.
· Sponsorship of Ł4,500 would enable us to redesign and improve our well-used, but dated, website. The sponsor’s support would be acknowledged on the home page.
· Sponsorship of any amount from Ł1,500 to Ł7,500 would enable us to provide training for groups of LawCare volunteers.
As we are there to help others, it is not easy for us to ask for help ourselves, but we know that we are simply not reaching all of those who need to be reached, or doing all that needs to be done. WILL YOU HELP US?

Whether you donate online or by post, please include a note stating whether your contribution is for our Core Funding or the Welfare Fund (which provides counsellor or inpatient addiction treatment for lawyers unable to afford it any other way), or whether you would like it used for a particular purpose—for example, to pay for an advertisement in a legal periodical you subscribe to.
Please also let us know whether we may acknowledge your generosity in our quarterly Ezine, LawCare News, and on our website, or whether you prefer to remain anonymous.
